How True =)

In the end, we only regret the chances we didn't take,
The relationships we were scared to have,
and the decisions we waited to long to make.
There comes a time in your life when you realise who matters,
who doesn't, who never did, and who always will.
So don't worry about the people from your past,
theres a reason they didn't make it to your future.

Jade Goody dies

I am personally in shock after hearing the news that Jade Goody lost her battle with cancer this morning. The star was pronounced dead at her home in Upshire, Essex at 03.14am, in the early hours of Sunday March 22nd. Mothers Day.

Jade, aged only 27, had been fighting a vicious case of cervical cancer, of which has been hugely publicised in the media over the past few weeks.
Jade wanted to sell her story to raise as much money for her sons Bobby, 4, and Freddie 5, for after she left them. She also wanted to raise awareness to the public about how important it is to have cancer checks, especially women having checks for cervical cancer.

Jade married partner Jack Tweed on 21 February at Down Hall Country House Hotel in Essex. OK! magazine paid Jade £700,000 to cover the event. An amount which Jade later said would be passed on to her sons.

I think Jade had remarkable courage, putting her situation out thier, for all the public to see, just so she could be sure her sons would have a good childhood, a better one than she had.
People who haven't been through the experience can only image what she must have been going through. Until the end, Jade's documentry series following her life was still filmed. He wedding to Jack was filmed as a special.
Throughout the last few weeks of her life Jade had been remarkably brave. She will remain an insperation to us all, as we look back on how although she knew she could die any day, her main aim was to make sure she provided for her children before she did so.
Our thoughts should now go out to Jade's sons, who lost their mum on Mothers Day. It's heartbreaking to think they'd have bought her a card and presents, to celebrate how special thier mummy is to them. But insted would have woken up to the terrible news she's now in heaven with the angels.

2,300 people lose Principles jobs

It has been confirmed hightstreet store Principles has gone bust.

2,300 staff are to face job losses as stores across the country are preparing to close. At least 66 Principles stores are to be shut down after owner Mosaic Fashions, was placed into administration earlier last week.

The credit crisis is still effecting all areas of the country, and after the closing of famous store Woolworth's, who knows whats next?

Mosaic Fashions also owned Karen Millen, Warehouse and Oasis, which were saved when a deal was struck with Icelandic bank Kaupthing.
"We will be working closely with the Redundancy Payments Office and Job Centre Plus to provide support for these staff, which will include a fast track process for paying redundancy entitlements," a spokesperson said.
High street retailer Debenhams will be acquiring most of the stock, which i think is the only positive aspect of the desicion. In my home town we don't have a Principles store, but their is a section for their clothes in department store House Of Fraser.
If this is the same in other towns, does this mean Principles will be taken out of the original department stores they are in and moved to Debenhams? And if so, will all Principles staff be replaced by Debenhams staff? i guess we'll have to wait and see!

Beyonce set's standards

There has been talk in the press today about the outfit Beyonce wore to promote her 2009 world tour, 'I AM...'
Beyonce Knowles stepped out onto the streets of New York yesterday to tape her concert tour promotion video. She wore a dress by world-renowned designer, director and photographer, Thierry Mugler. Thierry will work as creative advisor and costume designer on the tour.
Tabloid newspapers didn't hesitate to comment on the structure of Beyonce's dress. But as she's always known for showing off her curves, why should she stop now? The dress was made to hug tightly on the waist, and to give a curvier figure on the hips. As extravagant as the dress is, i think Beyonce pulls it off beautifully.
With so much pressure on women to have a slim figure these days, i think its great to have a role model to show of how curvy women can look fantastic. Their are so many celebrities in magazines and newspapers being criticized for being 'curvy' or having put on a bit of weight. It's no wonder at least 1.1 million people in the UK are affected by an eating disorder.
Pressure by the media has convinced skinny teenagers they're fat, and size 0 catwalk models they can't eat. By giving the public the impression 'skinny is beautiful' peoples self-esteems are being ruined, and who came up with that theory anyway?
I think its about time celebrities like Beyonce set this impression on the world. Women shouldn't have to hide their natural curves, they should embrace them, and lets hope the public start to get the message, curves are beautiful!

Fashion at the Oscars.

British film Slumdog Millionaire made a huge impression at the Oscars last night, winning 8 golden gongs. Kate Winslet got the recognition she deserves after winning 'best actress' for her role in as Hanna Schmitz in 'The Reader', but it was Kates outfit that made a huge impression on all fashion lovers out there!

Kate attended The Oscars in a gorgeous grey silk, Yves Saint Laurent gown, complimented by silver diamante jewellery. The dress was perfect for her figure, and the one shoulder proved very this season. The gorgeous grey colour is certainly one i'll be looking out for in the next party outfit i buy.
Winslet wasn't the only one who stunned on the red carpet. Accompanying her was Meryl Streep (nominated for Doubt) who opted for a complimenting light grey satin Alberta Ferretti piece.

'Rachel Getting Married' nominee Anne Hathaway shone in Armani Privé. While Angelina Jolie wore a black Elie Saab frock. Jolie went for the classic strapless floorlengh style, which never fails to flatter.

The celebs definitely impressed on the red carpet this year! The biggest trend being, strapless dresses among the women. Nude hues were a popular choice, but jewel tones of ruby, amethyst and sapphire were the night's biggest winners.

As for the men, they also made the usual effort to handsomely dress up. Both Daniel Craig, and Brad Pitt chose to style themselves in Tom Ford. While ‘Best Actor Winner’ Sean Penn, wore gorgeous Armani.

Oxfam making it big!

It has been revealed that charity shop Oxfam are wanting to follow in the footsteps of big fashion names like, Stella McCartney and Armani.
Wanting to put themselves on the fashion map, Oxfam are looking for an edgy, stylish new upcoming model to promote their campaign, and it could be any of us!
It has been advertised in British Vouge, and on the Vouge website, that they are looking for an upcoming model to be the face of thier new campaign.
Now, it's obvious to all of us thier are alot of upcoming models out there who have their sights set on modelling for big brands. Are they going to settle for charity shops?
Oxfam are appealing to upcoming models across the country to come to the casting at a secret London location, on February 20th. To be considered you have to first apply via email to the Oxfam team. (The link can be found on vouge.co.uk).
The new campaign will be styled by internationally acclaimed stylist Mrs Jones, creator of looks for The Killers, Scissor Sisters, Kylie and Goldfrapp.
'Every artist I have worked with has had an Oxfam reworked piece. I don't think there's one good fashion designer that hasn't been to Oxfam and been inspired by one thing or another,' reveals Mrs Jones.
Sounding more appealing ey? Jourdan Dunn, Jamie Winstone and Cat Deely fronted a new look Oxfam campaign last week, and as you'd be being styled by a major designer, it really is a once in a lifetime oppotunity. I think it'd be a huge for any aspiring model out there. My mum always told me, keep your foot in many doors, and take all the chances you can get. So get yourself out their girls! What have you got to lose?
